Leaping Lemurs

The Sifaka lemurs, from Madagascar, in this short documentary are both graceful and very, very cute.

International Cephalopod Awareness Day

I was quite embarrassed to discover that I had completely missed International Cephalopod Awareness Day, which was on October 8th.

To redress this terrible oversight, here's an amazing video showing why octopuses and sharks should not be made to share the same tank ... don't worry, no cephalopods were harmed during the making of this film :-).

Dangerous Animals

Via Dump Trumpet comes this set of posters warning of the "danger" posed by various animals.

It's a pain having to click on each link, but most of them are quite humourous.

PuppyppuP

I'm almost tempted to pop out and buy a puppy and a mirror to see how long this could be made to last :-) ...

The Power Of The Masses

My mate Dave sent me this YouTube link. It's not for the squeamish, but trust me, everything works out OK in the end.

Excellent Doggie Suit

As part of a promotion entitled "Come to the zoo, before the zoo comes to you", this little fellow is walking around town dressed in a suit that makes it appear he's being eaten by a crocodile.

Very, very cute!

Wonderful Insect Photography

Via Dump Trumpet ... Thailand has some pretty amazing insects.

Here's a site that's chock full of photographs of them, like this little fellow here.

Don't Look !!

I found this via Random Good Stuff.

If you like furry little creatures like squirrels and think they should be left to live their lives in peace, please don't watch this video. You may be scarred for life!

I absolutely do not condone what's going on here, but I couldn't help watching. Call it schadenfreude.

Nice Macro Photography

Via Dump Trumpet, comes Gene's Digest, a site containing some nice close-ups of various insects, spiders and other assorted wee beasties.

Here's one for you, Susan.

Nosey Parkers

My goodness! Have I really not posted since Saturday? Obviously, I've been out enjoying the real world far too much.

Here's a great post I found on Random Good Stuff. It's just lots of pictures of animals that have been a little too curious and ended up getting their heads caught in things, but they're all quite cute.

Hopefully, they were all freed without too much drama.

Cute Overload

The Webby Awards for 2007 have been announced and the winner of the "weird" category was Cute Overload.

It's a blog consisting entirely of pictures of animals in strange settings, poses or just doing cute things, all with pretend statements from the critters.

Well worth a look if you need to brighten up your day.

I Can Has Cheezburger?

My dear friend Susan sent me this site.

As she said in her e-mail, "totally silly but i love it."

My favourite photo so far is this one.

Whoa!

As the Random Good Stuff article says, this is almost definitely photoshopped.

If not, this is one hell of a big mutt :-).

According to the article, his name is, appropriately, Hercules and he weighs 282 pounds.

I definitely wouldn't want to run into him ... or any of his children, for that matter ... in a dark alley.

Bus Riding Cat

Cats are weird creatures.

This one apparently takes a bus trip every day.

Who's A Clever Boy?

Also, care of Random Good Stuff, this dog is pretty damned smart.

Doggie Screen Savers

I clicked a couple of links on that page I mentioned yesterday, with all the slurping animals and found the screen savers!

This should get you to a search results page with four of the screensavers.

I downloaded all four, but my favourite is definitely the Pug!

Look Away ... Now!

Well, unless you're either not naturally squeamish or, like me, appropriately anaesthetised. Even so, you may still find this video just a tad disturbing.

Silly Dog Owners

Here are some funny (tragic?) pictures from the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

I wonder if any of those dogs have an inkling of how silly they're made to look, just so their owners can win a prize. Let's hope not!

Animal Intelligence

I mentioned this site, about birds exhibiting cognition, to my good mate Paul the other day.

He has subsequently written an interesting post about the phenomenon, including links to more studies.

Please Get Your Foot Out Of My Beer !!

I've seen some strange things during a night on the turps, but so far have managed to avoid bars with patrons like this little fellow.

His name is Perky. In this picture, he's five days old, weighs under two pounds, and is nine inches tall.

According to this article from The Sun, he's the smallest pig ever born at the Pennywell Farm in Buckfastleigh, Devon.
