The Web Gallery of Art

During the aforementioned conversation with Jeannine in the antipodes, we pondered a number of the clues from yesterday's Times crossword.

One of the clues involved Tintoretto (or at least, lead to a discussion thereof). Via a trail of many links, this brought me to a wonderful site called the Web Gallery of Art.

In addition to hundreds, if not thousands, of high-resolution images of art works, it provides biographies of the artists and the ability to send an e-mail postcard containing any of the images.

You can even have it play some nice classical music to enhance the experience.

This is a truly beautiful website!

it is a nice website - pity only that it stops mid 19th century, especially since i am very receptive to modern art.
