One Laptop Pogue Critiqued

I'm no great fan of David Pogue.

However, he recently did quite a decent review of the One Laptop Per Child project's XO-1 hardware, including a video showing off it's features.

Desktops Then & Now

Crooked Brains has a nice article showing how the computer desktop has evolved since Apple released the first Mac in 1984.

For my money, things finally started to look reasonable around 1995 when Mac OS 8 and Windows 95 appeared.

My guess would be that it coincided with better graphics chips and higher resolution CRTs appearing.

Cool Aquarium PC

The guys over at Puget Custom Computers took an aquarium, 60 gallons of mineral oil ... sourced from a local vet, who apparently uses it as a horse laxative ..., plus some decent computing hardware, and made this!

I'd have thought the whole point of immersing the thing in mineral oil would be to overclock the hell out of it, but the video doesn't feature any performance tests, just how cool the system looks.
