Zink Mobile Printer

The Zink is a mobile printer that produces 2" by 3" colour photos on special Zink paper.

It can talk via PictBridge or Bluetooth.

Here's a little video of it in action (sort of).

Goodbye Sony, Hello Samsung

I've been using a compact Sony DSC-T9 for over a year now and it works well. It's very nice, with a slim body, 2.5" LCD, 6 megapixel resolution and VGA video capture. My only complaint is the piddling 3X optical zoom it offers.

Well, Samsung have just announced the L77, which is equivalently compact, also with a 2.5 inch LCD, and a slightly better resolution of 7.1 megapixels. But, the deal clincher is its 7X internal optical zoom!

Admittedly, it doesn't look quite as sexy as the Sony and we probably won't see it in stores for a little while yet, but it still has me drooling.

New Casio Exilim Compact Digital

Well, the announcements have been coming thick and fast from CES. However, this is the first that's tickled my fancy.

Casio have announced this EX-V7, ultra-slim, compact digital camera. It's a 7.2 megapixel shooter, with ... wait for it ... 7X optical zoom, with the lenses being inside the body of the camera.

That answers my only complaint about my current Sony DSC-T9, which is limited to 3X optical.

Fortunately, the EX-V7 also has image stabilisation, otherwise that high level zoom would likely produce some pretty blurry pictures!
