I can't imagine that I have a need for a 3.5" 512GB solid state disk drive, but if I did, apparently I can now get one from a company called SimpleTech.These drives are claimed to be 200 times as fast, for random accesses, as 15K RPM disks!
Of course, the price will be the killer. I'm not sure where Engadget got their data from, but they reckon these drives will be around $US1000 in five years' time ... so goodness knows how much they are right now!
